Responsibilities
Every member of the club is expected to comply with the club’s safety operating procedures given in the three sections of the document (link below), namely:
- Responsibilities of Club Members
- Risk Assessments
- Incident Management Procedures
When joining the club, members will be asked to verify that they have read, understood and agree to comply with the procedures.
If a member of the club does not comply with the club procedures, club office bearers will express their concerns and obtain the member’s agreement to comply in future. If the member repeatedly does not comply, further informal and formal discussion will take place to ensure that the member fully understands the reasons for the concerns and the consequences of further noncompliance, namely withdrawal of membership of the club. Any actions taken will be in line with the principles of ‘natural justice’, i.e., absolute fairness to both sides.
The club will provide members with the opportunity to heighten their awareness of safety issues by including at least one training evening a year in the evening talks programme, for example: first aid; navigation; incident management; equipment.
